Dear members of the Lebanese community,

The Embassy of Lebanon in Berlin invites you to follow its announcements on the Embassy's official website and official Instagram platform to stay updated on the launch dates for the biometric fingerprint service and the required procedures.

Please note that appointments have not yet been finalized in our system, and the launch date for the biometric service has not yet been determined.

Applications for the Lebanese biometric passport continue to be submitted at the Embassy in Berlin as usual; the passport itself is issued in Beirut, Lebanon. Submitting biometric data (fingerprints) at the Embassy is not yet available and will be available soon. If you have any questions, please contact the Embassy directly.

Dear students in Germany,

Over the past six months, the Lebanese Embassy in Berlin has noticed a significant increase in errors in the documents you submit to us for authentication, which causes considerable delays in completing them and in their arrival to you and your families in Lebanon. This affects both you and us negatively, as these errors consume a great deal of our time and effort due to repeated reviews.

Please find below a reminder of how to correctly submit your documents for authentication and benefit from the fee exemption granted by the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on your transactions:

1. The original document, or a certified true copy of it (issued by the primary source), must first be authenticated by one of the German authorities recognized by the Embassy. These authorities are clearly listed on the personal-status authentication request form available on our official website and on our official Instagram page.

2. Once authenticated by the official German authorities, the authenticated original document, together with a copy of it, must be sent by post to the Embassy's address, along with:

   • A copy of your valid Lebanese passport
   • A copy of your university card proving enrollment for the current academic year 2026-2027
   • A copy of your German residence permit or visa (if the visa is still valid)

3. The transaction must be sent by registered mail (Einschreiben, €4.45), available at all post offices across Germany, in an envelope bearing postage stamps and addressed in full to the Embassy (Berlinerstr. 127, 13187 Berlin Pankow). An empty return envelope must be placed inside the outer envelope, also bearing the same postage stamps and marked with your full name, your complete address in Germany, and your phone number (this can be written on the request form or on a separate note inside, as it is essential for the transaction), so that we can return your completed transaction to you immediately.

4. Sending the transaction to us and receiving it back is your responsibility. You may track the status of your transaction using the tracking number provided to you by the post office.

We kindly ask you to comply with the conditions above in order to facilitate the processing of your transactions and save time.

The Embassy of the Lebanese Republic in Berlin wishes to inform members of the Lebanese community traveling to Lebanon that the Lebanese General Security has announced that, as part of the phasing out of non-biometric passports (2003 model – numbers starting with RL), in accordance with the international standards and specifications adopted by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO):

Non-biometric passports belonging to Lebanese nationals will be confiscated and cancelled upon their entry into Lebanese territory. The passports will be returned immediately to their owners, who will be notified of the requirement to apply for biometric passports (numbers starting with LR) at the General Security departments and centers in Lebanon.

This internship is designed for students who wish to gain practical experience in a diplomatic and multicultural environment while contributing to the work of the Embassy.

Internship Details

• Working Hours: 2 to 3 hours per day
• Location: Embassy of Lebanon in Berlin
• Compensation: This is an unpaid internship
• Eligibility: University students and recent graduates with an interest in diplomacy, international relations, administration, communications, or related fields

On 26 February 2026, the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants announced that embassies and missions abroad would apply Minister Youssef Rajji's circular from 1 March 2026.

The measures include a 50% reduction in biometric passport fees, the cancellation of all fees for civil-status transactions including death documents and transfer-of-remains procedures to Lebanon, the registration or issuance of marriage, divorce, and birth records, and the cancellation of authentication fees for school certificates and school attestations.
